THE MONTHLY MEETING (Herald Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Wairoa Power Board there’were present: Messrs. E. It. Glendinning, chairman, J. Co.rkill, 1). I). Pryde, ,1. Macdonald, J. R. Gillespie, G. C. Ormond, W. Tail, C. V. Chamberlain, M. R. Shaw, and ■lt. Tapper, jun. . The Public Works Deparment advised payment of £484 10s on accdunt of work carried out by the board on the line between Nuhaka and Waikokopu, and stated that no further payment than the above amount could be certified. The chairman said the estimate sent in was £489 10s, and it was exceeded by £37 10s, and part of this was for supplies the department should have provided. It was decided to point this out to the department. The Minister of Lands wrote agreeing to the hoard removing any electrical fittings from sections in the Awapiate settlement under certain conditions, in the event of any settlers defaulting in the payments to the board. It was decided to thank the Minister, and the finance committee was instructed to go into the matter of putting all such fittings on the hire-purchase system. The Wairoa Farmers’ Meat Co. wrote advising that it was prepared to renew its bulk supply contract with the board on the same terms as contained in the expiring contract provided the service charges were considerably reduced, even to half of the £SO per quarter now charged. The chairman i said they could not tell yet what they could do as they did not know what the Government charge for bulk , supply .would be. It was decided to hold, the matter over. The Wairoa A. and P. Society inquired if the hoard would assist, as last year, in securing prizes for the electric cooking division at the forthcoming show. The chairman reported that the engineer had, agreed to do so. The chairman replied in the negative to a question by Mr. Chamberlain as to whether anything had been done in respect to the new agreement with the Government for electric bulk supply. Accounts totalling £1437 17s lid were passed for payment.
