EXTENSION OF PRACTICE (For Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Railway Department’s decision to control and manage the bookstall, in the railway station, instead of leasing it to a private 'bookseller and stationer, is viewed wtih displeasure by tho council of. tho Auckland' Chamber of Commerce, which made an emphatic protest yesterday. The resolution, which is being forwarded to tho Government, states that in the faco of tho Minister’s emphatic assurances of tho Government’s intention to curtail, rather than add to Stato activities in competition with private enterprise, tho council finds difficulty in reconciling the decision of the department to undertake tho conduct of the bookstall business.
