r JJio Democrats gain 36 seats, and the Republicans gain one. Illinois elected Air. Lewis as Senator over Mrs. McCormack bv approximately 400,000 majority. Airs.' O’Neill ran a negligible third on her “dry” ticket. North Carolina elected a Democratic Senator, Air. Bailey, and 10 Democrats as meritbers of the House of Representatives, including Afesdames Wingo and Oldfield, taking the places of their deceased husbands. Kansas re-elected the Republican Senator Capper. Tennessee, elected Democratic Senators, Messrs. Brook and Hull, a Democratic Governor, and six Democratic Representatives.
