Certainly a link would be severed it’ a Dominion Governor-General were merely to become a nominee of the Dominion Government wbicli is in power at the time of the appointment. “There seems to be an impression in some Dominions that the GoyernorUeneral is a mere lay figure affixing his signature like a rubber stamp to Ministerial documents. No conception could be more erroneous. The GovernorGeneral represents the King, acting as His Majesty would if he resided in the Dominion.
“It does not follow that the Dominion Government should give up its voice in the selection of a Governor-General. There ought to be no difficulty in meeting a mutually satisfactory choice.’
