HUSBAND TO PAY £BOO ACTION FOR SLANDER (Received Nov. 6, noon.) LONDON, Nov. 5. “One remaining privilege of a husband, if it can be called a privilege, is that he is responsible for the one thing he cannot control, that is His wife’s tongue,” said Mr. Justice Avery in giving judgment for £BOO damages in a case in which Mrs. Flanders, a dog breeder, sued Sir Charles and Lady L\cs for slander and assault. It was alleged that Lady Eves struck and abused the plaintiff, complaining of the neglect of three dogs boarded at her kennels during Sir Charles and Lady Eve's honeymoon. Sir Charles was jointly sued on the ground of the husband’s responsibility for his wile s tongue.
