TRAINER AND WRITER POLICE COURT SEQUEL (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Daniel Gladstone McKendry, a horse trainer, had words with a sporting Frederick George Hanlon, at the Addington trotting grounds on October 14. Aa a result- McKcndry was lined £2 and costs by the Magistrate, Mr. F. D. Mosley, to : day, for using insulting language. Hanlon gave evidence that he was sitting iu the grandstand at Addington when McKendry, who had been working two horses, came over and used filthy language. Witness gave no provocation. He denied that trainers sometimes resented his presence. The defendant gave evidence that lie went to see Hanlon in the stand about a horse at Methveil. Hanlon made a remark to witness, who replied: “Surely I can come out to work a horse without you following me round like a motherless foal." Hijnlon put his fingers in witness’ face, and that started the ball rolling. He did not use insulting language. ' ' ; To the sub-inspector the defendant admitted that he had a grievance against Hnnkm. Witness did not object to what Hacipii reported in "his papers, but- to wfeßLhe said outside his papers.
