THEY ALL GO ABROAD LABOR CONFERENCE WHY THEY PREFERRED TO VISIT CANADA BOSTON, October 19. American thirst was held up yesterday by the opponents of a resolution of the Federation of Labor to meet in Vancouver next year, hut the Canadian city got a huge majority in the ballot over Columbus (Ohio) and Salt Lake City. The luredif drinking liquor legally ap parently was too much for the delegates, as it has proved too much for other or ganisations, who prefer to meet at least once a. year in a country where prohibition does not rule. Yesterday the federation, without debate, approved an amendment of the Volstead Law to permit the manufacture of beer. About 100 American conventions are held annually in Canada, and 250,000 American citizens •celebrate the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence there.
