MORERE HOT SPRINGS
IMPROVED FACILITIES EXTENSIVE WORK I The Tourist Department is at present making extensive improvements to the Morere hot springs baths, principally in the erection of new pipe lines to convey the natural hot water from the springs to tho ibath houses, writes the Herald’s Nuluika correspondent. It is proposed to erect a new pipe line, and all the pipes, manufactured from a composition of bitumen and asbestos, together with the necessary fittings, are on the ground. Three men, in addition to the caretaker, are employed upon the work, which is expected to occupy some weeks. A great deal of praise is due to Mr. E. Kennedy, the caretaker, for the very capable manner in which he controls tho various baths and maintains their cleanliness. The improvements lie has effected to the entrance to the grounds adjacent to the caretaker’s cottage, and to tho various paths and tracks to the oaths and through the bush, are very highly spoken of by residents and visitors alike.
It is generally agreed that, if there is not enough hot water available to enable tho provision of a hot bath nearer to the main entrance, the department would be well advised to build a large tepid swimming bath, utilising the surplus water from the other baths to take the chill off what) cold water would he needed, and there is every reason to believe that this would be a source of largely improved . income during the summer months.
