ASSAULT ON CONSTABLE
(Per PreRS Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. On tho evening of Labor Day a constable was attacked and injured by a number of young men. In consequence of’ a thorough' round-up, four men are now spending a month hi gaol, and three have been fined £5. Qf the three, one spent eight days in gaol on remand. During the. -hearing of the cases to-day • the magistrate commented strongly oil the fact that tlio' accused, several of whom were under Si, had obtained liquor at an hotel.
