WAERENGA-A-HIKA CHURCH

Thd annual meeting of parishioners ol the Witerenga-a-liika Church was hem on Thursday evening in the Waerenga-a-l.ika College. I here was a good attendance, and Keen interest was taken in the proceedings. The balance sheet, which showed the church to be in a sound linanciai condition, was adopted. Referring to the linanciai position, the Rev. R. Hodgson stated that their keynote must be one of gratitude to God for the linanciai condition of the parish, and of encouragement for the future. Over £220 lmd been raised during the past year towards the reduction of the debt im the Makaraka church, and only £420 was required to wipe oil the debt. The general funds of the parish wore satisfactory, despite the fact that nearly £l5O had been donated to social and missionary work, the year ending with a credit balance of £BO.

Continuing, the vicar said lie yearned for two improvements during the present year; belter attendances at the Holy Communion services, which were the index of the spiritual growth of the church; and larger attendances at the special services in Lent. Voicing the feelings of the meeting, Mr. D. I’. Cameron congratulated the ollice bearers on presenting such a satisfactory and encouraging balance sheet. Ofiicers for (lie ensuing year were elected as follow : Vicar’s warden, Mr. K. B. M. Laseron; people's warden, Mr. If. ,J. Rougher; vestry, Messsr. Watson, Bade, Barrow, R, McCullough, Paulson, J. Middletniss, S. Davies, W. Middlemiss and J. T. Herbert. Warm votes of thanks were extended to last year’s office hearers, and the headmaster and staff of Waerenga-a-hikn College. A tasteful supper was served, and the meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
