DEFENCE EXPENDITURE (Special to thn Horalil.l ROTORUA, this day. "With a view to ensuring, that the financial year will clo.se satisfactorily, and in tho interests of the taxpayers, it will be necessary for all items of expenditure to be "overhauled with a view to a possible curtailment," says the Prime Minister in his .statement to-day. "Accordingly, as already announced, it has been decided to suspend all territorial camps pending a careful consideration by the Government of the whole system of land defence. The Government's proposals on the matter will be' submitted to Parliament in due course, when tho whole matter will be open for discussion, in the meantime no. further, camps will take place."
