WORLD'S BEST SINGERS L.S. ORCHESTRA Behearsals for the 10-woeks season of international grand opera at Covent Garden, London, begin tliis month. One of the less familiar operas will he Montmezzi's roma.itic work, "L'Amore dei tie, lie," which has not been heard in London since 1914. Alms. Rosa Ponselle will sing in this opera. The scenery will be a reproduction of that used at La Scala, Milan. The composer is coming from Italy for the occasion, The syndicate promises exceptionally good orchestral playing this season. The London .Symphony Orchestra, the members of which have been together continually for the last six months without deputies, will play throughout the 10 weeks, with Mr. John Barbirolli, Mr. Vincent Bellezza, Mr. Robert Heger, and Mr. Bruno Walter as conductors. For Wagner's "King," the orchestra will be augmented to nearly 100 players by members of the Covent Garden touring orchestra For the first time the chorus will be all-British, in addition to the chorus which has been with the touring company, a number of British singers who were in the chorus in the 1929 season will be engaged to fill the places taken in tie past by foreign choristers.
