AMOUNIS' EASY WIN PHAR LAP'S FLNE GALLUP. (iDlec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) SYDNEY, April 23. Dull weather and light showers prevailed lor the third day of the autumn meeting at Hand wick to-day. The fast limes indicated that the track was not affected by the weather conditions, and the recent racing. The attendance was 27,000.

Two weight-for-age contests, which produced the champions, Niglitmarcii, Phar Lap, and Ainouuis, and the Champagne Stakes, which brought together the season's best two-year-olds, provided a delightful day's racing. The' All Aged Stakes was expected to provide n thrilling duel between Nightmarch and Amounis, but Nightmarch was unable to stand up to the powerful finishing elFort of Amounis, who reached the judge a length ahead of the New Zealander.

Goshawk captured the second division of the Coogee Handicap in smart stylo. Punning prominently throughout, he came away at the distance to win with ease by three lengths. Phar Lap gave a splendid exhibition of galloping, running a mile and threequarters in the Cumberland Stakes, unattended, in 2.583, a Randwick record.

The New Zealand horse Sir Roy was unfavorably placed in the. early stages of the City Handicap, but put in a. splendid finishing effort to gain third money. Following are the details:—

Second Hurdles: Tractor 9.11 (Citlluin) 1; Kinross 10.5 (Kenny), 2: Home Made 10.5 (McCurley), 3. Nine started. Paul T was the pacemaker from Kinross, Praetor and Home Made. Along the back Kinross had charge, followed by Praetor, Adit, Grosvenor and Home Made. Praetor assumed control turning home and maintained the lead won by a length. Time, 4.21. All Aged Stakes: Amounis 8.12 (Pike), 1: Nightmarch 9.0 (R. Reed), 2; Greenline 8.12 (McCarten), 3. The other starter was Cimabue. From a walk-up start Cimabue was the smartest to move, and quickly established a three-lengths' lead from Greenline, Nightmarch and Amounis. At the half-mile Greenline joined Cimabue, and a length away followed Nightmarch and Amounis. At the distance Amounis commenced a brilliant finishing effort, and going on won nicely by a length. Time, 1.37.

Coogee Handicap.—First division: Myarin' 7.4 (Phillips), 1; Spearman 8.0 '(Wilson), 2; Lorason 8.1 (Cook), 3. Thirteen started. Vigno was the first to show out with Spearman, Gesto, and King's Arms going strongly. At the furlong Cave Dweller took charge from Vigno, Gesto, King's Arms and Spearman. Cave Dweller and King's Arms showed the. way into the straight just clear of Gesto, Spearman, Myarin and Lorason. Myarin. finishing smartly, left the field at the distance, and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, 1.51. Coogee Handicap.—Second division: Goshawk 8:2 (Oracknell), 1: Dalston 6.12 (Coddard), 2; Hebrus 8.7 (Tomison), 3. Eleven started. When the field settled down Vaals took charge from Charlie 15, Lipari. Sir Chryslopher. and Goshawk. Passing the half mile Vaals was a length clear of Sir Chrvstophor. Lipari, Goshawk, and Venetian Lady. Racing into the turn Vaals and Sir Chrystopher ■were together from Goshawk, Dalston, Venetian Lady, and Hebrus. Goshawk issued a challenge to the leaders at the distance:, and going on won with ease by l three lengths. Time. 1.50 J. Champagne, Stakes: Chomosh 8.5 (Miinro), 1; Veilmond 1 9.1 (McCarten), 2; Balloon King 8.5 (Coutts). 3. Eight started. Chomosh was (ho smartest away from Doctor's Orders. Delwood and Veilmond. Throe furlongs from home Chemosh was a length clear of Doctor's Orders, Balloon King, Veilmond, and Delwood. Chomosh led into the straight from Veilmond, Doctor's Orders and Balloon King. Veilmond issued a, determined challenge to Chomosh, hut. the latter finished full of running and won by two lengths. Time, l.llf. City Handicap: Cimhrian 8.9 (Phillips).'!; Caramolo 8.0 (R. Reed), 2; Sir Roy 7.4 (Parr), 3. Nine started. When the field settled down Royal Smile was in charge from New Sweet. Cimhrian. Caramolo. and- Sir Roy. In the last half mile from home Royal Smile was just clear of Now Sweet, Cimhrian and Caramolo, with Sir Roy putting in good work at the rear of the field. Cimhrian then took charge, and won with ease by two lengths. Time, 2.46^. In the Cumberland Stakes. Phar Lap made all his own running, and was 25 lengths ahead of "Donald at the mile, and 15 lengths at the half-mile, and was eased up in the straight, eventually winning l by two lengths from Donald, with Kidaides 20 lengths away, third.
