REMOVING BRIDGES

RAILWAY ENCROACHMENT COUNTY COUNCIL’S POSITION The necessity for the removal, of bridges on the main road between GisImrnc and Morero as a result of the progress of railway works was brought lo tin 1 notice of the Cook County Council to-day with the reading of the lot,or from (lie District Engineer, quoted on page 5. It was decided to advise that the council was applying to the Government Loans Board for a bridges loan of £SOOO, and the Maraelaha .bridge was included. lu, regard to the proposal to build a 12ft. bridge, one wide enough for only one vehicle, the chairman said that at that point, so far from the centre of traflie in the district, the overseer had expressed the opinion that a bridge of that width should be sulliciont. The council agreed with the chairman ’s explanation.
