“NOT QUITE SANE”
AN ARTIST’S SUICIDE AUTOMATIC DRAWINGS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Prana Assn.) (Received April 16. 11 a.m.) LONDON, April 15. Giving a verdict of suicide, the coroner said it was clear that William Atkinson, the New Zealand artist who was found dead in his flat, was not quite sane. An artist employing Atkinson gave evidence that his drawing was automatic. When h 0 tried to draw by conscious effort he made a hopeless mess. il(> had lately been turning out weird landscapes, suggesting a prehistoric country. lie was depressed by his failure to sell his drawings.
