DOBSON MINE TRAGEDY PRESENCE OF GAS (Per Press Association.) GRE YAK l Til, this day. 'Hie inquiry concluded last, night regarding the Dobson mine dispute, the decision of tlie board being to suspend lor a period of three months the deputy regarding whom allegations were marie by the union and conveyed to the Minister of .Mines by tbc West Coast Miners Council. Ike allegations were to the effect that a great discrepancy existed between the deputy’s reports as to the quantity of gas in the rise workings and the quantity found there by workmen s inspectors and mines inspectors and that tlie deputy was unlit to hold a deputy’s ticket. The heard comprised Messrs. W. H. \V<>ntiv.- wd, S.M., chairman, Mr J. Watson. superintendent of tha Taupiri -Mine: and Mr. 1 Hmeaton, president of the t nited Mine Workers’ Union. Evidence heard from miners engaged in the place, in question and from mine officials and mines inspectors went to show that gas was present all the time in large quantity, whereas the deputy reported ZCi't. only in the “goof.” Tar verdict was as follows. “The rv’ioritv of the court finds that Ihr floaty.
