PARNELL BY-ELECTION
FIRST SHOTS TO-NIGHT (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Parnell by-election campaign will be opened this evening, when both Mr. YV. A. Donald, the United Party candidate. and Mr. T. Bloodworth, the Labor candidate, will address meetings in Remuera. Mr. W. P. Endean, the Reform candidate, will open his campaign at Remuera on Wednesday evening. As the election will take place on May 7, the candidates will have three .tveeks within which to address the Electors, but the Easter holidays and Anzac Day will intervene, so that for practical purposes not more a dozen evening meetings will be addressed by each candidate. However, as the electorate is a compact one, no difficulty is anticipated in covering the territory within the time allowed. MINISTERIAL CAMPAIGN ' • (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is expected that a number of members of the United Government will take part in the Parnell byelection campaign. The Hon. G. W. Forbes, actingleader of the party and Minister of Lands and Agriculture, will speak in the electorate on Thursday, April 24, his principal subjects being finance and land settlement. Prior to his address he.will visit Rotorua to confer with the Prime Minister.
