17 MINERS KILLED
UNDERGROUND EXPLOSION VANCOUVER, April 13. At Tacoma, Washington State, a terrific gas explosion 500 ft underground in the Carbonado coal mine killed 17 miners on Saturday night. Half of the bodies were recovered three hours later.
