ASSAULTED BARMAN “Frothblowers” evidently do not find favor with a barman in a local hotel, for the action of a young man who blew the froth off his beer cm to the floor led to his being thrown out of the bar, anil this morning he appeared in the folic©' Court charged' with assaulting the batman. The-accused was William Gordon, who pleaded guilty before Messrs. A, G, Deere and T. Corson, J*s.P., t'o a chaise of assaulting ■ James Brennan by striking him on the face with his fist. i .Senior-Sergeant Wade explained that Gordon Went to 'the British Empire Hotel arid had a drink; the froth of Which lie blew on to the floor. 1 .Mr. Brennan took exception to this, "and put .him out of 'the hotel, arid 'Gordon struck him on the mouth, breaking bis false teeth antT giving him a thick lip. The accused liacl not been before the court on any previous /occasion, and lie was prepared to take out a prohibition order against himself. He was nuite well behaved when he was riot drinking. leniently. Mr. i’eaufov went on to explain Hint when Mr. Brennan handed Gordon his beer there was a lot of froth on top of the glass, and, as was usually done, InMew it on to the floor. This incensed' Mr; Brennan, who nut him out o.f the hotel. The accused told the barman that he had inst done what others always did. He. came back to the bar, and /Mr. Bremlan annoyed him. with the result that'the accused struck him. His past record was clean, and he had a s’eady job at Kopua, and the, restraint of a prohibition order would be a severe penalty. Gordon came out of hospital onlv recently, and his nm-down condition might* be partly the cause of.hi'; 1 ''online: irritable.
