The Wellington City Council is spending £20,900 on a big cutting in Sydney street. Residents in Gisborne who observed a slight irregularity in the appearance (if the nioon 'last evening may be unaware that 'they were witnessing % partial eclipse. The eclipse was a very small one, but Conditions were ospe-' cially good for viewing it, and the small piecer of the moon at the top of its disc accounted for by the earth’s shadow could be seen clearly. The eclipse was at its maximum at' 5.30 p.m., the moon having risen-soon after 5 p.m., and the moon was entirely clear of the black/ shadow a few minutes after 6 p.m.
