Lord Thomas Robert Dewar, Ist Baton of llomestall. a celehrated alter dinner speaker, and the author of many epigrams, was managing director of John. Dewar and Sons. Ltd., distillers, of London and Perth, a director ot Buciiniuiii-Dewar. Ltd.. London, and a director of Licenses and General Insurance Co., Lid. Lord Dewar, who was not married, was the filth sou of the late John Dewar, of Berth, and was horn at Perth in January. 186'L He was educated at Perth and Fdirihurgh. Lord Dewar was a member of the London County Council for West MnryleItone from 1892 to 1895. and was M.P. (U.) for Si. George's. Tower Hamlets, for six years from 1900. lie was also sheriff of the ('itv of London from 1897 to 1898. and was Lieulenaul of (fie t'ilv. Ilia publication; included A Ramble? Round the (Bide." “ I’roliihi(ion in the United Slates.' “Canada and New Zealand." and "Experiences of I he Gothenburg System." Lord Dewar’s reerealions were painting, shooting, racing, and coursing.
