FRENCH THIRD DEGREE

DETENTION OF SUSPECTS GROWING OPPOSITION . (Received April 11, 10 a.m.) PARIS, April 10. The American tailor, Alamazin, who was held on a charge of murder, has been released after six months in prison, despite the fact that it has long been plain that there was no evidence of his guilt. Meanwhile, the clamor in tho French press is increasing against third degree methods. The police committee of the French Chamber to-day adopted a bill limiting the oowers of the police over individual liberty, including preventive detention, domiciliary searches, etc. The committee also called on the Government to introduce another bill to deal with arbitrary arrests and the investigation of crime by so-called scientific methods. Meanwhile the police have no clue to the murderer of Frederic Regaudin, whose body was found in a wicker trunk on October 20.
