SWORDS AT BANQUET
AN INCIDENT IN SPAIN ATTACK ON THE KING MADRID, April 9. One of the liveliest banquets on record took place at the Hotel National in honor of the Republican, Scnor Domingo, in connection with his book, “Where Goes Spain?” Five hundred guests were present. The speakers were warned not to abuse the Government’s new permission to hold public gatherings, but one declared that he was not going to mince words, and attacked King Alfonso, whereupon a Government official declared the banquet suspended and called dozens of police with drawn swords. The diners tied amid pandemonium, wrecked tables, and smashed crockery. Eight were arrested, but later released.
