RICH PRODUCING YEAR

PRESSURE UPON STORES i LAMB AND MUTTON CARCASES The pressure upon cool storage for dairy produce in Auckland applies also to the storage of lamb and mutton carcases. of which there are more ill store at present than for several years. Reasons for this position are the same as in the case for dairy produce. An increase in killings corresponds to the increased dairy output, while there has not been the same relief in shipments as usual. •The killing season is now drawing to a close, and there is every indication that there will be an increased number of sheep and lamb carcases to be exported from the Auckland Province. It is stated that this large production will not be confined to the present season, but is bound to continue, due to the natural expansion in .the industry and the breaking-in of fresh land. It is possible that the low prices which have ruled for wool may have had' some effect upon the number of killings. The worth of the sheep lies in its wool and its carcase. As the former has not had its usual value to the farmer, many inay have been influenced not to hold stack for a further shearing, but to dispose of them by killing. It is stated there is more produce in the stores throughout the wffole of New Zealand than at the same time in previous years. In the case of Auckland, it is not anticipated that any difficulty will arise, and working arrangements will not be interfered with.—Aueklaftd Herald.
