DOMAIN FOR KAITARATAHI

(To tfic Editor of the Herald.) Sir,—There wfis recently hold an enthusiastic. mooting in the Kaitaratahi I’ublic Hall to consider wavs and moans of giving effect to a proposal to acquire land for tlio pnrposos of a domain for tlio district. Tho mooting was tho result of negotiations which havo passed between the Kaitaratahi Sports Clulli and the Minister of hands, the Hon. (h W. Forbes, who, on behalf of his department, offered to assist to the extent of £SOO, It is necessary, if the scheme is to go forward. that a sufficient number of residents in the district should evince a desire to take some part in the management and control. The present proposal is that the Sports Club should continue to function as lessees of tlio ground at an approved rental. This, togeiher with such income as may be derived from grazing charges, it is thought, will be more than sufficient to meet any annual expenses incurred by a domain board. Further, the Sports Chub is prepared to allocate a sum of money which will probably more than suffice for initial expenses incurred in the transfer. It was felt at the meeting that there were still many residents who were ignorant of flu* scheme, and Mr. A. E. Nelson was appointed to interview and inform as many as it was practicable to reach. A further meeting is to be held in the Kaitaratahi Public Hall at aij early date, and an appeal is made to every person who has any interest in the scheme lo be present.—Yours, etc., W. KEENAN, Hon. .Secret,'irv Kaitaratahi Sports ' Club.
