Two tenders were received for additions to the septic lank, hut these were held over till l)r. Turbott arrives to decide on drainage alterations. The tender of Air. O. Johansen for painting the hospital buildings was accepted, and Mr. W. T. Wliealen was appointed supervisor. Accounts totalling A6SS 15s 7d were passed for payment, and the estimates were referred io a special meeting. The works committee’s report was adopted, including the suspending of alterations at the nurses' home, but certain innovations were decided upon. The medical superinteinlenl reported for March: ‘‘Batienls remaining in liospiial, 27; admitted, 55; total treated, S2; discharged, 50; died, none; rciimiiiing in hospital, 52. The total days’ stay was 575, with an average of 25,2 occupied beds. There were 15 major and four minor opera! ions during March. One typhoid and one scarlet fever case are being treated in hospital. One patient has been in hospital for over three months and anoilier has been in over six months and will be discharged in two or three

COMMITTEES’ BECOBTS The commit tee sot up to finalise arrangements in respect to other hoards reported as follows; —‘‘(I) That tin* Hawke's Bay Hospital Board In* notified that this board will not accept any liability I'm- fees incurred from this disl riel unless admission is requested in writing from this board. — Extremely urgent cases necessitating immediate attention and ox-Wairoa residents who have permanently left Wairoa district but: have not been three months.in the Hawke’s Bay hospital district prior to admission, but have resided in Wit iron district for 12 months immediately beforehand, shall not come under the above restriction. (2) That all cases, which, in the opinion of our medical superintendent, require treatment in other institutions, must make application to the secretary of the board for a note of admission, this to apply to friendly societies’ patients who are sent to other hospitals by our medical superintendent. (5) 'That the local medical practitioners be requested To refer all indigent eases recommended for Napier hospital to our medical superintendent, for eon Urination as a safeguard to this hoard against expenses being incurred without the knowledge of the hoard.”
