FOCH IN DARK HOURS CLEMENCEAU’S TRIBUTE BARIS, March 29. The late M. Cleinenceau’s daughter, Madame Jaequeniaire, writing in La Petit Parisian, vividly portrays “The Tiber’s” appreciation of Marshal Foch. Once M. Gleinenceau said: “Foch lias written a book against me, and 1 am going to reply.” He labored wholeheartedly, often for 20 hours out of the 24, but one day he cried reminiscent lv: “It’s all very well, but J can’t help loving Foch. 1 can’t forget how lie wanned my heart at Doullens, when the British were 1 retreating, (everyone was terribly discouraged, but you should have heard him cry, *lou aren’t fighting. You must light before Amiens, and behind Amiens, fight all the time!’ How lie .comforted mo! 1 could have kissed him.”
