A ROTARY CLUB FLAGWhen Rear-Admiral Byrd arrived in Wellington from the .South Island he brought with him a hag of the Wellington Rotary Club which he had eairied on his flight ovei; the Soutji Pple. The flan- will be presented to a representative of the club at a meeting oi dvio bodies shortly, at which RearAdmiral Byrd will be the guest oi honor. Addressing the Wellington Ivotaiy Club Mr. C. Lofgren, of tiie expedition partv, said: “W 7 e carried down to_ the Antarctic very pleasant memories o- delightful days spent in New Zealand. All through the long winter down there the functions given in our honor were recalled. Wellington was very close to us down there at the Lay ot Whales. On more than one occasion BY A cheered ,us up on still, dark nights. I recall ore. night in particular, when a Maori concert came through. Alt tne boys were tucked away in their sleepingbags listening-in until about 2 o clock in ° the morning. As the American > Consul put it, our base down there was Wellington’s new suburb. (Laughtei).
