An important announcement concerning the operation of the railway timet«He on An?ac Day was made by the Minister of Railways, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, this week. "Anzac Day, April 26, this year will fall on the Friday following Easter Monday," said Mr. Taverner. "This proximity makes the problem of dealing with through passenger traffic on A nzac Day somewhat more difficult than it has been in previous years. The Act provides that Anzac Day shall be treated as a Sunday". It is proposed, in order to (conform with the spirit of the Act, to suspend the whole of the railway time-table, with the exception of .the ordinary Sunday trains and the exnress trains between Auckland and Wellington ii, the North Island, and between Christchurch-Dune-din-Invercargill and Christchureh-Urey-mouth in the. South Island. These excesses are the minimum requirements to provide the essential through services, and connections to and from the intej-island ferry steamers running or» that day.."
