ACTRESS IN AUDIENCE

TROUBLE OVER DRESS POLICE AS CENSORS BUDAPEST, Feb. 7. On leaving the auditorium of tho municipal theatre hero last night Miss Irene Palasti, an actress well known to devotees of light opera, was escorted by a police officer to an inspection room on the premises. Miss Palasti, who was with her mother and sister, was informed that complaints had been received from other members of the audience that her dress was immodest. The policeman asked for her identify papers. She states that she was compelled to interview tho police officer alone, and that his attitude left much to 'be desired. She lodged a complaint today at tho United States ConsulateGeneral. Tho dress she wore was objected to on the. ground that it was cut excessively low. It is a, silver-spangled gown which has been admired in other European capitals. The affair has created much discussion. Even the newspaper Pester Lloyd, which generally presents the official point of view, asks why, if certain types of evening gowns are objected to in tho auditorium, chorus-girls are allowed to appear on the stage in practically no costume at all. In private life Miss Palasti, who lives in Berlin, is the wife of Mr. Hans Bartsch, who is stated to be an American theatrical producer. She was visiting her parents here.
