N.S.W. COAL CRISIS
MINERS LOSE CONFIDENCE STRIKE PAY DWINDLING SYDNEY, April 7. The coal minors held their first batch of aggregate meetings on the Northern fields to-day. There was a large attendance and lack of optimism. At the four centres the mine owners’ compromise terms were rejected, but at Adamstown (the men voted in favor of returning to work by a large majority. ‘it was stated by the miners’ officials that there were only sufficient funds in view to continue strike pay on the present scale for six weeks, whereafter the miners will have to be content with half rates.
