MATAWAI CLUB’S MEETING RECORD ENTRIES ( Hi,raid Correspondent.) The fresh impetus given to the Matawai Pug Trial Club's progress last year was well maintained on the occasion Hi' tlm nineteenth annual trials, held mi Friday and Saturday. The entries constituted a. record, and the attendance of the public was most encouraging. Friday was dull and showery, kill Saturday was a bright day, and this tact encouraged a good attendance. As usual, tlm committee and officials worked hard to make the trials a success, and much credit is due to Mr. 11. Davenport, the him. secretary, for tin* smooth manner in which the events were disposed of. The Matawai Hall was packed on the occasion of the annual ball, in the course of which the president. Mr. | furfo'il. thanked all those, who had worked so hard for the success of the trials, and the dub affairs generally. A useful talk to dog-men was given by the judge, Mr. ■). Butler, of Opotiki. this innovation being warmly appreciated. The popular patron of the dub. Mr. IF Riddick, made a happy speech in connection with the presentation of trophies won in llm competitions.
