DOCK IMPROVEMENTS
BIG SCHEME FOR MERSEY LONDON, Feb. 14. The Government’s approval of the £2,000,000 schemes by the Mersey Docks Harbor Board for the alleviation of unemployment was intimated at yesterday’s meeting of the board in Liverpool. li is hoped that work will bo provided for more than 2000 men.
The schemes embrace the modernisation of the central dock system at Liverpool, making two docks availaide for coasting vessels at any time, irrespective of tide; the construction of a new dock on the BirkenheadWallasey boundary, and the modernisation of five clock bridges at Liverpool and Birkenhead.
