BUTTER MANUFACTURE
N.Z. METHODS TESTED PORRTGO (N.S.W.), March 24. An experiment in the manufacture of butter was carried out at the Dorrigo factory during the week by the senior butter gruder of the Department of Agriculture, Mr A. M. Drown, who spent two days here. With him were Mr. .7. Randall, t.acteriologlst of the departinept; Mr. (1. Rowe, senior dairy instructor for the district; and Mr. J. Smith, assistant dairy instructor. The methods employed in New Zealand factories were adopted hi the manufacture of one article; Another was manufactured under the conditions observed locally. 11)e butter has been taken to Sydney, and a report as to the result of the tests will,.bo furnished to the manager. The dairy company last month manufactured 914 tons of butter, being an increase of 11 tons, as compared with January. At the bacon factory, 446 pigs .were killed.
