RELATIVE OF OWNERS RESIDENT AT TE KARAKA The 600-year-old Luttrell Psalter, for many years on loan at the British -Museum and known even 10 w.hool children through reproduction of its pictures in their history books, is to tome under the hammer ai Sotheby's on July 2 K J, reports a London paper. The Bedford llorae and nine oilier finely illuminated manuscripts, which belonged to the late Sir Goorgo Llolford, will be sold at the same lime. The sale is expected to bo one of the most sensational of the season. The Luttrell Psalter is a monumental illuminated manuscript, written on vellum in large bold lit magical script. It is one of the most lavishly decorated manuscripts in existence, and is noted lor its remarkable series of marginal drawings depicting the life anil social customs of mediaeval England. The Psalter belongs to the Weld family, and its bourn for many \cajs was the. library at Lnluoiib Castle, Dorset. A cousin of members of this family is Mr. W. V. R. Luttrell, of Te Karaka.
