"I'LL KILL YOU"

MCCONACHY'S THREAT BOUND OVER BY COURT (Received April 5, noon.) LONDON, April 4. ('lark McConachy, who was summoned by Willie Smith for using threats, was b'ound over till April 10. when he leaves England, and was ordered to pay costs. The assault summons was dismissed. .Mr. Batlin, appearing on behalf of Smith, declared that McConachy com plained on March 24 that the balls bad not been washed, lie pointed out that it. was McConachy's fault as lie had arrived late.' McConachy subsequently made other complaints about the table, and also declared that his ball was Hawed, and that lie was playing under disadvantage. The referee and manager examined the complaint, and decided that it was unjustified. As McConachy insisted, Smith agreed to use the ball'himself. Later, tho New Zealander alleged that the balls were not a neutral set. Smith agreed to go out and weigh them. the players and referee engaged a taxi, in which McConachy, in a vile temper, repeated his allegations. Smith renlied : "It is a lie."

McConachy stood up threateningly and cried out : "I II hIiOCK your lift > off."

Smith shouted to the driver to stop, whereupon M--t'onachy knocked him back in the seat.

"I will kill you before I leave Manchester," shouted McConachy, and when the referee attempted to pacify him he added : "Yes, and you as well." McConachy's counsel, Mr. kyeroft, declared that McConachy simply leaned forward in the taxi and pushed Smith back in the* seal. The words suggested as threats, if uttered, were only terms of abuse. Smith had acted childishly in calling the police. McConachy said he had evidently put his hands on Smith's chest. The referee rati "lit his arm, and as there were two against him ho threatened to dean both up. He thought the halls \\v)v tin- same weight, but differed in size, justifying his complaint.
