FLAX INDUSTRY
STABILISATION OF PRICES In order to meet tho drop in the value of hemp, the Northern Flaxmillers' Association made a request to the Government to establish an equalisation fund out of whtoh tho growers could be subsidised when prices were low, and into which tho growers would pay when the-, market price improved. By this means prices would be stabilised and workers kept in continuous employment. The matter was considered by Cabinet last week, and the proposal for a subsidy was rejected, but the question has been reopened, and further consideration is to be given to the matter this week.
