GISBORNE CLUB TOURNEY afeN'S &LNGLES FINAL There was a small attendance of spectators at the courts at ivuiti this atternoon to witness the tiiuiL of the men's championship singles section in the Oisborne Lawn Tennis Club's annual tournament. The match was played between the holder, N. H. Bull, and I'. Watson, who was defeated by lin 11 in the liniil last year. The players were evenly matched, as indicated r>y the scores in the lirst set, and the spectators were treated to a brilliant exnibition of tenuis. Watson won the first set. wlrbh ran to £2 games, and too*: only n lew minutes less than an hour. The challenger took the first three games, and Bull the next live. Watson then took two, lost the next to Bull, and took two more, making the score 6—6. Thereafter the contestants i\'on alternate games, until Watson took the 22nd. giving him the set, 12 —10. The next set took only 20 minutes. and was won by Bull, b—4. The holder won the first two games, hist the next, and then won two more- The following two games went to Watson, but the eighth game was won hv Mid!. Watson took the ninth, and Bull the 10th.
In less than hali-an-hoiir Watson won the second set with a margin of three games- Ho took the lirst three games, and thereafter they' won the games alternately until Wa'tson got Hie ninth, giving him the set. 6—,S. At 3.45 p.m. the score in the fourth set stood at 5—4 in favor of Bull.
