THE UNITED .CANDIDATE VARIED EXPERIENCES (Por Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Mr. W. A. Donald, brother of the Hon. J. 15. Donald, has been chosen official Government candidate tu contest ihe Panic] 1 by-eloctioi.i. Th.e decision was made at a meeting of the United Party representatives this afternoon. As a, young man Mr. McDonald went to England, and was educated at Oxford University. He studied law, and later practised in London, being a barrister of Inner temple. He was London director of the firm of A. B. Donald when tho war bioke out. He joined the King Pdward Horse, and later the Imiiskrlling Dragoons, and was three and a-hajf years on active service. Since returning to New Zealand Mr. Donald has been an active'"member of the Auckland Golf. Club, and a supporter of Rugby Union football. ELECTION ON MAY 7 (J?»r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Wednesday, May 7. has heen fixed by the Government as Hie date foi' the Parnell by-election. Finality on the matter was leached hy .Cabinet, yesterday, and an announcement setting out the' above, decision will be mode to-day.
