LEGISLATION NEXT SESSION Tin? prospects of Parliament passing next session the transport proposals it rejected last year were 'dismissed by the Minister of Transport, the Hon. \V. A. Veifeh, in an interview at Christchurch. “1 am confident that Parliament will approach the proposals, with a great deal move confidence next session, because since the close of last session the files of the Imperial Parliament have given us reports of the commission which studied very minutely for two years the transport problems of Great Britain, ** said the Minister. “The recommendations of this commission, which was set up by the Baldwin Government, have been adopted in their entirety by” the ''present l ' Labor Government in the Imperial Parliament. They arc based on exactly the same principles as my .proposed legislation of last session. This fact proves that, while experts'were investigating tho transport problems in Great Britain, and while wo were investigatihg thorn in New Zealand, both arrived at the same conclusions simultaneously.” “I have found the Transport Department a most interesting one, and i am convinced that if Parliament will give mo the backing i will ask for, I can do a great deal to reduce the cost, of transport throughout the Dominion,” the Minister added)' “In this ease it is worth remembering that every shilling taken off the cost of transporting our primary products to the market will be a shilling net profit to the primary producers.”
