ARREST OF STOCKBROKERS
STOCKS SLUMP IN PRICE INVESTING PUBLIC IN PANIC (Received Feb. 1, 10 a.m.) TORONTO, Jan. 31. After the arrest of brokers for alleged conspiracies to defraud the public, five fi Hits Were suspended from the Stock Exchange in Toronto and one in Vancouver. Seven of the accused were remanded on bail of £20,000 each. The public is in a panic, throwing their .stocks on the Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal exchanges, and causing a dramatic slump in prices. The Toronto brokers were arrested at dawn in |ii‘d after a simultaneous Ontario Government audit of the books of W 0 firms. Bank account, records and books were seized.
