The recent wreck of the steamer Manuka recalls n singular experience which befell her on a trip from Sydney to Auckland in 1913. Under the command of the late Captain D. The first "pal night" of the Waipaoa liirl Guides was held last evening in Kailaratahi Hall, there being representatives present from the various branches in Gisborne, Wairoa, and Orinond. In connection with the new Duco service to Opotiki, we have been asked to state.that this is additional to the service the company lias already established. There will thus be two services daily, one leaving Gisborne at 5 a.m. and the other at 1.30 p.m.
