ATHLETIC QUEEN LEADING ELECTION CLOSES TO-NIGHT Interest is increasing as the election for the Mardi Gras Queen draws to a close, and it. is anticipated that the [lolling will bo heavy between noon today and 11 p.m., when the election ends. The position of the candidates at 11.30 a.m. to-day was as under:— Votes. Athletic Queen 21,930 Ambulance Queen 19,850 Tennis ' Queen 17,820 To-morrow night the coronation ceremony will lake place at tho Childers road, reserve. The celebrations will be continned till midnight, when a display of fireworks should provide a fitting conclusion.
