During the discussions sailors hoisted the Red Flag and forced the officers to order the cruiser home before Christmas, whereas it was due in March. When entering Wilhelmshafen the crew were arrested, chained, and removed to the marine prison. Two men were convicted and sentenced to a term in gaol. Authoritative sources discredit the story, but agree that a. few days before the "Internationale" was sung, those responsible being roiirtniiirtiailecl. Two men were imprisoned and one acquitted.
