MUTINY ON EMDEN
COMMUNIST ALLEGATIONS OFFICIALS DISCREDIT STORY {Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Dec. 30, 3 p.m.) BERLIN, Dec. 29. The Communist newspapers Rotefahno and Weltamabend both give sensational accounts of the mutiny on the cruiser Eiiiden, which they' declare occurred at the beginning of December and was kept secret.- It is stated that the officers were, constantly receiving banquets in the various ports they visited, while the sailors bad starvation rations and dclnandecl tfte abandonment of the cruise and an immediate return. During the discussions sailors hoisted the Red Flag and forced the officers to order the cruiser home before Christmas, whereas it was due in March. When entering Wilhelmshafen the crew were arrested, chained, and removed to the marine prison. Two men were convicted and sentenced to a term in gaol. Authoritative sources discredit the story, but agree that a. few days before the "Internationale" was sung, those responsible being roiirtniiirtiailecl. Two men were imprisoned and one acquitted.
