WAIPIRO BAY DRAW NEW YEAR ATTRACTION Tho draw and handicaps for., the Waipiro Bay Tennis Club's annual tournament, which commences on New 1 Year's Day, have been announced, and j with the excellent entries that have | been received, the tournament bids fair to be" the most successful yet held in I the district. Well-known players from Gisborne and all parts of the Coast will take part in the matches, and players from various other parts of the North Island have sent in their entries, including' N. Blakiston, of Dannevirke, C. Evans-Scott, N. G. Whiteman, and IT. Burns, of Wellington, and G. P. Chapman and J. 0 ! Beckett, of Timaru. The player securing the best of 17 games will be the. winner in the preliminary rounds in the championship events, and,a three-set match will he played in, the final of each ©vent. In the men's handicap and combined handicap events 50 points up will be played, and 40 points up will be played in the, ladies' handicap events. Tho comfort of the lady competitors will bo increased greatly this year by the provision of a dressing shed on the grounds. Mr. A. M. Beale generously donated tho shed, which was erected in time for the fixture, and will remain on the grounds when the tournament is concluded.
