SURFING SENSATION
BATHERS IN DISTRESS ESCAPE FROM SHARKS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received December 28, 12 noon) SYDNEY, Dec. 28. There was a sensation at Narrabeen beach when four bathers were caught !>v the current and carried out. Simultaneously a large shark was seen cruising round. Lifesavers courageously donned belts and succeeded in reaching those in trouble, but the lines were severed by jagged rocks, and the lifesavers discarded thsir belts and brought the bathers ashore. During the swim to the beach a shark swam within a few feet of one of the lifesavers. Two sharks were caught in the harbor yesterday, one at Newington, where children were swimming only a few minutes before.
