With a record dating Iback to 1915, a middle-aged man, Daniel Jlebloy, a few days after discharge from gaol, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonni&nt for issuing a valueless* cheque for £B. Accused started an orgy of drinking arid tilled in the cheque to pay his board. The magistrate, Air. Wyvern "Wilson, said it was useless 'sending the accused to Rotorua, as he had escaped frtjm there, twice already, and had been guilty of insubordination. lie had served 12 months for forgery in 1928, and six months for false pretences a year later.
