A message from Elgin says that Mr. Ramsay MacDonald states that lie will devote' the entire mornings to work in connection with the naval conference during his stay at Lossiemouth. The familv was delighted with a telegram sent by Mr. Mackenzie King, Premier of Canada, announcing that, a thouhtiari had been named Islibel. A presentation believed to bo unique in the history of the New Zealand Territorial Force, namely; of a sword of honor, was mad? in Auckland to Major W. F. Stillwell, M.C., V.D., who has relinquished the roininaritl of the 4th Battery, New Zealand Artillery (Howitzer). on his appointment to command the Ist Field Brigade, N.Z.A., in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. Newman, D.S.O. Upon Major Stillwell’s promotion early this month, the battery decided to purchase from the Defenbe Department, the artillery-pattern sword issued to him a number of years ago. and to make him ft gift of it “in fee simple.” For that purpose a sum of money was subscribed, by all ranks. I Major Stillwell has .been associated with the corps for nearly the whole of its vagied history, extending over more than 25 years. ■
