Stillwell, M.C., V.D., who has relinquished the roininaritl of the 4th Battery, New Zealand Artillery (Howitzer). on his appointment to command the Ist Field Brigade, N.Z.A., in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel C. N. Newman, D.S.O. Upon Major Stillwell’s promotion early this month, the battery decided to purchase from the Defenbe Department, the artillery-pattern sword issued to him a number of years ago. and to make him ft gift of it “in fee simple.” For that purpose a sum of money was subscribed, by all ranks. I Major Stillwell has .been associated with the corps for nearly the whole of its vagied history, extending over more than 25 years. ■
