CONVICTED OP BIGAMY GIRL'S DEVOTION LONDON, Dec. 19. How a meeting on a voyage, from Australia resulted in a bigamous marriage was described at the Old Bailey when Owen Williams, residing at 'Southend, pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy. The prosecuting counsel, Miss Helena Normanlon, said that Williams married ill 11>0!>, and had. two children. He left 'his wife in 1924, and went to Australia. " Returning in 1027, he met Miss Eveline Drummoml. She assumed that he was single, and soon after landing they were married at a. registry office. A child was born a year later. Mrs. Williams gave evidence that they separated because they could not agree. She was suing for divorce. .Miss Drumnvond said that they still loved one anotfher. She had nursed him through his illness, and they were going to marry when Williams was divorced. The Kecordcr said that Williams should be treated with leniency. He wa s sentenced to nine days from the opening of the sessions, enabling his immediate release.
