MOB THREAT
EUROPEANS IN DANGER MURDER RUMOR CALCUTTA, Dec. 16. The narrow borderline between civilisation and savagery in India was emphasised last night by an ugly scene ill Calcutta's European quarter. A threatening mob of Ho(i Kabuli money-lenders gathered in front of a European's house in Theatre road as a result of an unfounded minor that a Kabuli money lender had been murdered in it. In no time carriages arrived from all parts, some from great distances, the rumors having spread through the bazaars. The European inmates were compelled to take refuge en the upper floor. Police reinforcements were necessary before the mob was dispersed. '
